I'm a Canadian media composer, music producer, and musician based in Tokyo, Japan. Toyota Altezza at Spiral Hall in Tokyo.
Justin Woolsey’s first commercial project was for Toyota Altezza at Spiral Hall in Tokyo light painter Patrick Rochon and Keiichiro Mukai. Justin created the music for National Geographic Channel Japan’s Top Gear promo, which won the PromaxBDA Asia Gold award. He also created the music on ThreeBond’s “Bond Your Sparks” film, which was a finalist at Spikes Asia.
As a producer, Justin has worked on projects with Medeski, Martin & Wood, Hilary Duff, Placebo, Simon Le Bon (Duran Duran), Monday Michiru, ACO, Martina Topley-Bird, Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band, Koichi Korenaga, Toshiyuki Yasuda, Cyro Baptista, Maïa Barouh, Tavito Nanao, Caroline, and Root Soul.
Justin has produced numerous songs for Disney Mobile Japan, many of which were released on Glamorous POP Disney and Sparkling POP Disney (Walt Disney Records).
Justin has released one dirty spacey house track as Bongoloid (with Nik Sliwerski). He plays guitar in the psychedelic jam band, Oblong and is creating music as Justin Oblivion and OV.
Today, Justin continues to be a big music nerd and an avid fan of indie rock, electronic music, global psychedelic music and film scores. He currently is creating and producing music for a major television series as well as for commercials and games.
He lives in Tokyo, Japan with his wife and daughter.
